ExoConnect - The Exoclimes Networking Project

Are you a graduate student or ECR attending Exoclimes? The organizers of Exoclimes want to help you make the most of your trip to Montréal, Canada. With that in mind, we want to give you an opportunity to advertise your visit to the Exoclimes and your research to the North- East Exoplanet Community in Canada and USA. Our hope is that, logistics permitting, this may facilitate visits to other research institutions in the Canada and USA before or after Exoclimes.

If you want to participate, send us (link coming soon) a single slide with an overview of your research and your contact information. We will collect them and distribute the slide deck to exoplanet groups at various research institutions from Canada and USA that have agreed to participate. Members of the participating institutions will contact you if they are interested in inviting you to visit.

Specifications for the slide
  • A single slide, landscape, in PDF format.
  • Be sure to include your name, affiliation, and email address.
  • Please avoid overly personal photos. The goal is to highlight your research.
  • Please upload the slide before March 14, 2025, 17:00 Eastern Standard Time.

Frequently asked questions

Why an introductory slide over an abstract for a talk?
We believe that a slide is the best way for a researcher to introduce themselves and display their research as it allows for plots and figures to be included. It also allows ECRs and graduate students to show what they are working on regardless of the stage of the project, while an abstract may indicate some level of “paper-readiness”. A more formal abstract may also give the impression that the participant is being invited for a talk. While institutions are of course welcome to invite participants to speak, the details of any visit are up to the researcher and the institution.

Are graduate students and ECRs from Canada and the USA allowed to participate?
Yes! While part of the motivation of this project is to help graduate students and ECRs who are travelling to the Montréal, we welcome all graduate students and ECRs who want to advertise their research.

Will funding be provided for arranged visits?
The ability to provide support for a visit will vary greatly from institution to institution. Be sure to discuss this when making any arrangements to visit.

Will these introductory slides be used elsewhere?
The slides will be only used as a part of this networking project and will not be used during the conference or summer school.

Will the visa be arranged for USA by the Exoclimes organizers?
Unfortunately, we will not be able to arrange the visa for ExoConnect participants visiting US institutes. Please contact the host institutes for the visa procedures.
